There has been another quake, possible 6.2

0134: The tremor struck off-shore 140km (87 miles) north-east of Tokyo, shaking tall buildings in the capital but the authorities did not issue a tsunami alert, AFP reports. It had a depth of 18.8km, the US Geological Survey says.

And sea level has dropped five metres off Fukushima. Possibility of another Tsunami. There were two explosions (hydrogen explosion) at Reactor 3, the operator Tepco says - AFP. Reactor 3 withstood the explosion(s), its operator says.

    Probably no tsunami though.

I meant what I said I didn't know whether homosexuality was a mental illness. But I think it's important to distinguish between a mental illness and a that has psychological and/or environmental causes. Mental illnesses include clinical depression, schizophrenia, bipolar, and others. Inferiority complexes, poor self-esteem, and some irrational fears, say, are psychological problems, not mental illnesses. I think homosexuality is a psychological problem with psychological and/or environmental causes.I think being Catholic is a psychological problem, but it doesn't mean that I have any desire to deny Catholics the same rights as anyone else.

Maybe they are presenting evidence for that I might think there's no evidence for something when there's undiscovered evidence for it or when others have discovered evidence that I've ignored deliberately or not. This sentence (or phrase) is completely unintelligible.

The iPod was not a fad by any sense of the word. Once you reach a decade of popularity, it's not a fad. It's like calling land line phones a fad because there was a time when they didn't exist, then they did exist and were popular, and now they are fading due to cell phones. Ridiculous.

A fad is something that comes and goes quickly with a spike in popularity at its peak, and then people look back and wonder why they did it. That isn't the case with the iPod which still sells in the millions.

Amazing to see how people will resort to anything to make Apple look less popular than they are.

Now we see what Apple saw - why the Mac Pro is strickly BTO.

Just add two more processor options for the X5355 and E5345, and this upgrade is done.
Just like the Dell online store... ;)

    8. Pfft. I'm holding out for 64 cores.
You could just get one of these (http://www.sgi.com/products/servers/altix/4000/).

It supports up to 512 processors under one instance of Linux and as much as 128TB of globally shared memory.

Just convince Apple to buy SGI.

is this iTV thingee going to have wireless router function? then it replaces airport express. if not, then no.yes it will. Probably 802.11n. It will also have a USB port. They could do a lot of interesting things with the USB port. You could connect your or a friend's iPod and gain access to all the content on the iPod. You could connect a printer like the Airport Express, or what I hope most of all is NAS. Imagine being able to connect a USB drive and have a file server for your whole house, anything in the movies, music, or photos folders can be played by iTV.

    1. What "punch"? If we're going to use arbitrary words, iPhones beat Android to the "desert". FACT
    2. Phone carriers selling Android devices and offering incentives helps the needs of those who do not afford to buy an iPhone but need a smartphone. I fixed it for you.
    3. No, they aren't. Please link some sources stating so?
    4. Sure, I'll give you that if you want to say it's a ripoff. This is a whole other issue.
    5. Sure. It's bound to.
    6. That tends to be the way of the Open Source area.
    7. I'd hope so. Any competitors selling iPhones should probably be sued, since you know, that'd be a blatant rip off.
    8. Sure.
    9. Yes, yes and yes.
    10. They're really just as bad as Apple's fanboys. I've noticed that the only difference in comments from the huge Apple fanboys and anti Apple fanboys are generally the words "Best" and "Worst" get flip flopped.

HTC's earnings are growing faster than apple's earnings. came out last week and i think they tripled over last year

HTC basically releases the exact same phone every few months except with different screen sizes and they alternate radio/CPU/GPU upgrades. the phone names are different but the internals are the same just like with different iphone versions

I've never used any of the PCI slots on my PowerMacs and don't expect that I ever will, but the ability to put any video card in is appealing. The iMac is nice and quite useful, but just slightly less than what is needed in many cases. The PowerMac has been more or less uncompromising speed and generally more than I wanted when I bought. With all of the emphasis on the name 'Mac' in the new naming scheme and a more competitive landscape now that we've gone Intel, I think (hope) this is the machine Apple will use to complete its desktop lineup.

The Apple Mac... Nice sound to it, no?

I like the idea of a cut down Mac Pro, but perhaps something with at least one PCI slot, or even an Expresscard as used on the MBPro. Useful expansion, so long as it is all user-servicable.

    Tethering Charge not justified.
How can you say charging twice for the same Data is justified?

I pay for internet I use the internet. People have been brainwashed to side with the carriers.

You pay for a bottle of water $1
You pour it on your head then the person says Thats another $1 you owe
Why? because you used the same water you just bought to wash yourself not drink.

Its the same issue, Data = Data use is use, how you use should not be charged different since on the supply side makes no difference.

this is so twisted I cant tell you enough.

this analogy is so stretched as to make no sense.

but even water, there are residential rates and commercial rates... you can't mix the two .. there are limits and plans.

you arent paying for the same data twice. you are trying to change the agreement after the fact.

dont like the agreement. dont enter into it.

And marriage is legal in many parts of Europe between same sex couples

It's also legal here in Canada.

it is only the 3rd world and developing world that has the biggest issue with same sex marriage but as these countries always traditionally follow Europe expect the decline of religion as more and more people become educated, and with the decline of religion such nonsense as hating each over whom we love to also fade away.

And lets not forget most of the good 'ole US of A.

    Here is how it works:

In this case, the file downloaded is a compressed ZIP archive, which, if a specific option in a web browser is checked (Open “safe” files after downloading in Safari, for example), will open. The file is decompressed, and the installer it contains launches ...

If the user continues through the installation process, and enters an administrator’s password, the software will be installed.

Someone has a Geiger Counter reading set up in Tokyo (I assume that is the location). If someone can explain this that would be wonderful.

    CPM
Counts per minute (cpm) is a measure of radioactivity. It is the number of atoms in a given quantity of radioactive material that are detected to have decayed in one minute.

Come to think of it...it wouldn't be too bad if Japan had to mass evacuate because of contamination. I mean, that place might eventually like blow up and flood at some point in the future right? It looks like it's on the verge of happening actually.

That would be pretty cool if they evacuated now. I mean, where would they go you may ask? I think they would mostly come the the US. I mean, we sort of helped them build their country up after WWII and we've always had pretty strong ties. Our economy is similar too.

Hey, we'll take Toyota, and Sony, and Mitsubishi...and heck, whatever can fit on the barges. :) I think it would be pretty symbiotic too as we use a lot of their crap anyway so might as well bring it all home. They have like the best manufacturing in the world and the US can use some of that today. We have lots of barren land all over the place that can be used for industry and Japanese ppl have the money to build here, rather than in the expensive cramped up island of theirs. Jobs for all! woot!

    Absolutely 100% false.

According to the American Automobile Manufacturer's Association, there were 169,994,128 vehicles in the world in 1970. As of 2001 there were 450 million.

Fine, then...per car, modern vehicles are now only 38 times cleaner than they were forty years ago. )
It isnt absolutley 100% false. There is an extreme amount of people on this planet. Look at that rathole of a place China. And in america, the immigrants. There are a hell of a lot of people and my solution: Nuke the middle-east.
and he said 40 years ago not 30 go back to 66 from NOW

Missed your request for ASM directions for a sec there. :) Anyway, I use NASM. Available here:

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/nasm

I do my assembly in a .asm file, and use a C program as a wrapper to make things easy. C program, including my C loops. Notice that is't ugly and I manually change it to test different things, but hey it works. You can do better Im sure. :)

    #include <math.h>

eyeHome does not support HD and it never will. I got this in an email directly from Elgato. That is the biggest difference. Also, the general consensus is that eyeHome is not in the same league of robustness/intuitiveness as other elgato products or Apple products. eyeHome cannot even play back eyeTV 500 , eyeTV Hybrid recordings.

But nobody will be downloading HD for iTV, so that's a moot point. From what I've seen so far it actually does less than other media streamers.

It's no surprise that Apple will never make much headway as they stubbornly refuse to make a range of computers to suit a range of customers.

In the UK, yesterday I visited 3 of the largest high street superstores we have, which sell a range of electrical goods (TV's SatNav's HiFi, and White goods) and computers.

In all three stores, there must have been at least 3 long tables packed with a vast number of PC laptops with price ranges from 199 upwards to high end models, and of course some desktops also.

In all designs, colours, styles, large and small, etc etc etc.

And in all 3 shops there was one small table with a couple of Apple Laptops and an iMac.

That's it, all at the very top of the price range. Probably around the most expensive computers in the whole store.

And we wonder why Apple is not making major headway in "Typical Customer" sales.

It does not exactly need Einstein to see what the problem is.
